The project involved replacement of an existing Federal Aviation Administration
Air Traffic Control Tower which was necessary due to the cab size being too small
to support the increased operations and also to resolve line of sight problems.
Capacity enhancements were required to support proposed increased air traffic
activity in the upcoming years. Also located at this 3.5 acre site was an associated
four-story, 37,000 square foot Terminal Radar Approach Control Building, a twolevel
parking structure accommodating 192 parking spaces, and access roadways
and security guard house. GCW provided field surveying services and utility
investigations/potholing support. Kleinfelder was retained to provide geotechnical
exploration services, as well as materials testing, inspections, and special inspections
during the construction phase.
