This project consisted of preliminary and final design for 1.2 miles of 4-lane urban arterial on new alignment, including a grade-separated crossing of the UPRR spur to the Black Mountain Industrial Park Basic Management Inc. plant. The project included an alignment selection study, drainage/traffic analyses, right-of-way design, geotechnical investigations, and plan production. Improvements include roadway, curb and gutter, storm drains, FAST ITS system (fiber optic cable, conduit, pullboxes), signal modifications, steel girder overpass structure, MSE walls, signing and striping, street light design, and 24-inch waterline. This $7.8-million project was funded by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and was recognized as the ITE Project of the Year in 2010.
